"Starbucks Parish Choir" - Young Voices lead

After years of being told that our members are mainly senior citizens, it was refreshing to hear that our Choir was filled with young voices.

It was actually . At the 6 pm service last Sunday, under the conductorship of Andrew and Joyce, we sang lustily as per Selina's instructions.

Putting on the robes were fun - kinda like a Harry Porter cum convocation day thingy. Thanks everyone for a fun-filled evening praising the Lord.

The Great Food Sale

The Great Food Sale is on. Setapak Parish turn to turn on the wok is October, so everyone think about what we can contribute ( easiest is money lor if not hands, legs to do the running would be welcomed , too ) . I'm sure Evelyn would love to hear from you.

"Couzing", "Joshua" Group and more makan....

Just finished a really enjoyable get together with the youth of Setapak Parish. Wasnt really sure at first whether it would take place as I didnt get any response from anyone until Evelyn called on Thursday that it was on...

Majority of them like William , Daniel, Carolyn grew up in the Parish and can recalled the many trips they they had together. My son laughed so loud when Daniel and Jeremy recalled jumping out of the window in Frasers Hill. It really sounds as if the Parish members had many good times and confirmed from the pictures Evelyn brought -

Today, most of them have grown to be fine young men and women. William, Adrian , Jeremy and Chan Hong ( sorry if I got your spelling wrong ) @Mcchicken fan are now working. Carolyn just finished her law degree in ATC . Evelyn, Kristy and Daniel are in college and Shane in Form Five.

Basically, it was for Setapak's "Joshua" group to get together as we hardly see them now at the Parish meetings in the recent years. The common topic of getting to see "Joshua group " more at the Parish gathering cropped up , so did the dwindling youth attendance etc.

Interesting discussions, feedback , lots of laughing but I think what was most encouraging is the fact that at least everyone was willing to make a go at it . Like Jeremy said, start small by connecting again with one another and certainly Adrian's response to pray about starting a small group for youth is certainly encouraging. Well, Kristy was the first to say she would attend if there was one. So we only need to pray hard for a group to start when the time is right....

Prayers for Brandon

Brandon from SG1 is down with dengue. Let's all pray for him to get well.

Fellowship at the home of Joy Richards

Joy Richards and her lovely children, Selina, Sabrina and Thomas hosted our latest parish meeting at their home.Joy who is in SG3, Setapak Parish cooked her famous curry and provided the hospitality at the meeting which was just held on 24 July, Friday.

We were also very blessed indeed to have Racheal Kwong a long time stalwart of Setapak Parish, stop by to share with us her life in China. She was actually on her way to KL Sentral but manage to squeeze an hour to share and pray with us. It was really good to hear that she and Chong Vai are well and serving God in China. May the faith and trust shown by her in the Lord be an example to us all.

Our speaker for that night is Pastor Tan who is the Supply Pastor from Grace Methodist and her message that night - Power of Prayer. Indeed inspiring and full of fire for the Lord. May our Parish be filled with that same fire to serve the Lord.
